At McDwyer’s Pub on East 204th Street, time passes slowly. Little has changed in this old-school Irish bar since it opened in 1966. It comes off as the Bronx’s own McSorley’s Old Ale House in Manhattan’s East Village, only with relics from the entire second half of the 20th century instead of the 1800s.

A public art piece on the sidewalk at the corner of East Fordham Road and Webster Avenue is frequently obstructed by parked vehicles belonging to multiple city agencies, enraging officials from the borough’s biggest business improvement district.
On the day before Thanksgiving, hungry Bronxites lined up in the vestibule outside of Part of the Solution, the food pantry and soup kitchen on Webster Avenue.
They brushed snow off their coats, waiting to be seated. Inside the dining hall, volunteers in white aprons were hurrying to set the tables, dishing out large portions of rice, beans, and ham, as well as hunks of bread and cake for dessert. Among the volunteers were two familiar faces: Councilman Richie Torres and Bronx Borough President, Ruben Diaz Jr.
